He is also a member of the Bottom Line Personal Panel of Experts. For more great tips from Dr. Rubman, check out his other videos and Bottom Line blog “Nature Doc’s Patient Diary.”

In this video, Dr. Andrew Rubman, naturopathic physician and author of Bottom Line’s “Nature Doc’s Patient Diary” blog, explains his top immune-boosting strategies to avoid colds and flu. Vitamin C is crucial, but Dr. Rubman recommends getting more of this vitamin through a healthy diet, not simply relying on a pill. In addition, lomatium isolate is an effective, broad-spectrum antiviral. The trace mineral geranium-132 improves overall immune function. Larix, made from tree bark, also can be beneficial. Finally, Dr. Rubman suggests routinely taking multivitamin supplements and eating a healthy diet to strengthen and support your immune system…and adding additional supplements when actively fighting an illness. Be sure to consult your doctor about all the vitamins and supplements you take.

Foods That Boost the Immune System | CORONA VIRUS covid19 What should we eat ? |Eat Fresh and Health

Foods That Boost the Immune System | CORONAVIRUS | What should we eat ? | Eat Fresh and Health

what you eat will have straight effect on your health, feeding your body certain foods may help keep your immune system strong. If you're looking for ways to prevent winter colds and the flu, your first step should be a visit to your local grocery store. Plan your meals to include these powerful immune system boosters

Most people turn to vitamin C after they've caught a cold. That’s because it helps build up your immune system. Vitamin C is thought to increase the production of white blood cells. These are key to fighting infections.
Popular citrus fruits include:
* grapefruit
* oranges
* tangerines
* lemons
* limes
* clementines
Because your body doesn't produce or store it, you need daily vitamin C for continued health. Almost all citrus fruits are high in vitamin C. With such a variety to choose from, it's easy to add a squeeze of this vitamin to any meal.

If you think citrus fruits have the most vitamin C of any fruit or vegetable, think again. Ounce for ounce, red bell peppers contain twice as much vitamin C as citrus. They’re also a rich source of beta carotene. Besides boosting your immune system, vitamin C may help maintain healthy skin. Beta carotene helps keep your eyes and skin healthy.

Broccoli is supercharged with vitamins and minerals. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as many other antioxidants and fiber, broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables you can put on your table. The key to keeping its power intact is to cook it as little as possible — or better yet, not at all.

Garlic is found in almost every cuisine in the world. It adds a little zing to food and it's a must-have for your health. Early civilizations recognized its value in fighting infections. According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
Garlic may also help lower blood pressure and slow down hardening of the arteries. Garlic’s immune-boosting properties seem to come from a heavy concentration of sulfur-containing compounds, such as allicin.

Ginger is another ingredient many turn to after getting sick. Ginger may help decrease inflammation, which can help reduce a sore throat and other inflammatory illnesses. Ginger may also help decrease nausea.
While it's used in many sweet desserts, ginger packs some heat in the form of gingerol, a relative of capsaicin. Ginger may help decrease chronic pain and may possess cholesterol-lowering properties.
Spinach made our list not just because it's rich in vitamin C. It's also packed with numerous antioxidants and beta carotene, which may increase the infection-fighting ability of our immune systems. Similar to broccoli, spinach is healthiest when it’s cooked as little as possible so that it retains its nutrients. However, light cooking enhances its vitamin A and allows other nutrients to be released from oxalic acid.

You may know turmeric as a key ingredient in many curries. But this bright yellow, bitter spice has also been used for years as an anti-inflammatory in treating both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
research shows that high concentrations of curcumin, which gives turmeric its distinctive colour, can help decrease exercise-induced muscle damage.

Keep in mind that you don’t want to have more than the daily recommended
More ways to prevent the flu
Variety is the key to proper nutrition. Eating just one of these foods won’t be enough to help fight off the flu, even if you eat it constantly. Pay attention to serving sizes and recommended daily intake so that you don’t get too much of a single vitamin and too little of others.

What Can We Do About COVID-19? The Benefit of Vit C (Ascorbic Acid) in COVID-19 Treatment

What Can We Do About COVID-19? The Benefit of Vit C (Ascorbic Acid) in COVID-19 TreatmentThe Chief Medical Operator at The LifeCo Wellbeing Phuket Thomas Lodi, MD, MD(H), gives a talk regarding the recent outbreak of novel coronavirus COVID-19. What can we do to protect ourselves, and is there any treatment for COVID-19? Thomas Lodi, MD, MD(H), has been working in Thailand for about eight years. He completed his medical training and specialized in integrative oncology in the USA. He has usually taken care of people with late-stage cancer, and he pointed out the relation between some viruses and some cancers.He said one thing he wants to talk about is the fear the recent outbreak causes. The one thing todistinguish a cold from influenza is fever. While people with influenza do not show any fever, people who get cold show fever. With the novel coronavirus, the common symptoms also include fever. He said the novel coronavirus would only affect only mucosal areas like your inspiratory system. This results in respiratory failure. He stated MERS and SARS, which we saw a few years ago, are also coronaviruses, and now we're calling this novel coronavirus because it is a new strain. And it is a zoonotic virus, meaning that it first affects animals, and then spread from non-human animals to humans.He said that of the infected by COVID-19, 81% are mild, and 14% are severely ill, 4,7% become criticallyill. The fatality rate is 3.4%. Mostly older people die of the novel coronavirus. However, you can be a robust older person, or you can be a sick older person, or you can be a sick young person. The main point is that if you have a compromised immune system, for example, if you have cancer, HIV, congestive heart failure or emphysema, you may die of this virus. If you are a regular healthy person, it's probably the same as getting a cold.
it's probably the same as getting a cold. The thing about viruses is they are the ultimate parasites. They connect to a cell through a receptor, then with the help of some enzymes, enter into the cell, and then make your cellular machinery start producing more viruses. That is when your immune system recognizes the virus and starts to react. It takes almost 14 days for you to show symptoms, contrary to the common cold.The novel coronavirus sticks to the mucous cells. As soon as this happened, your immune system acts against it. There are two parts of the immune system; innate and adaptive. The innate immune system doesn't need any instruction, will immediately find the alien agents, and go after it. The adaptive immune system is the one that has to be taught. The innate response happens within the first threedays, and it takes around seven days to finish your acquired response. So, you can fight with your natural killer cells against any invader, including the novel coronavirus. The obvious conclusion is the only way to protect yourself is to have a healthy immune system.He said the normal immune response is usually confined to the infected areas, but this virus causes the immune response to spread out. Then your immune system gets overactive and attacks everything. This is called a cytokine storm. When this cytokine storm affects your whole body, you get multiple organ failure.
failure. In this stage, there is nothing to do but give supportive care, which is symptomatic support to get rid of the pain and the fever. Actually, we don't want to suppress symptoms; we want to get to the reason why the body is doing that. The symptoms are the messages to show the root cause of the problem.He stated we should keep in mind the body’s intelligence. If you're overeating pasta, bread, potato, cake, and get too much sugar in your blood, your cells will react not to consume too much glucose. So, you don’t have a disease, but your body is adapting to your mistake.
He said the researchers are seeking drugs that will end this pandemic. Still, ascorbic acid, a fundamental molecule that's necessary for all living organisms, works well to boost your immune system to fight with all viral infections including COVID-19.Whereas most of the animals produce ascorbic acid in their bodies, primates do not.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant. It helps your body to produce, for example, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl,which are potent virus and bacteria killers. It also maintains healthy connective tissue, which means it helps your wounds heal. If you are depleted from vitamin C, you get subclinical scurvy, which will eventually result in death.
In terms of COVID-19, this coronavirus causes your body to go into systemic inflammatory response syndrome, which is like a septic shock. There are some experimental drugs, but with dangerous side effects. Curcumin from turmeric and vitamin C also do the same effect as this drug.

Coronavirus Covid-19: My Primary Precautions: Showers & Level Vitamin C

This video highlights two main precautionary efforts I use regarding the national emergency declaration regarding Coronavirus Covid-19. My main two strategies are to shower when I get home (an expansion of hand-washing with soap* & water) and to keep my intake of Vitamin C fairly level via daily intake of one orange or one grapefruit per day, one half in the morning and the other half at night. #FlattenTheCurve

*The soap I use most often is Dove: Sensitive Skin; it is neither antibacterial nor antimicrobial.

Here's a link to a video which helps explain WHY regular soap & water is my preference; the soap washes away sweat and dirt and much of the detrimental waste left behind by microbes, but allows many beneficial microbes to remain on my skin; some microbes can destroy viruses, possibly even the Coronavirus Covid-19, well before I get a chance to wash my hands or get a chance to take a complete shower:

Vitamin C,D Treatment for Coronavirus and Related illnesses

Vitamin C, D Treatment for Coronavirus and Related Illnesses, and Prevention and Protection from Viral InfectionsThe Chief Medical Operator at The LifeCo Wellbeing Phuket Thomas Lodi, MD, MD(H), gives a talk regarding the recent outbreak of novel coronavirus COVID-19 and prevention and protection from viral infections. Thomas Lodi, MD, MD (H) stated that you could prevent from COVID-19 with high doses of Vitamin C. The problem with high doses of Vitamin C is that it causes digestive distress such as diarrhea and nausea. In order to avoid these adverse effects, you can get Vitamin C intravenously. If you take themaximum dose orally, it should be preventive. However, in case of exposure to the COVID-19, as someone coughed on you, etc., then you can get higher doses. In his book, 'Curing the Incurable,' Thomas Levy, MD, supports the use of Vitamin C to prevent, cure, reverse and significantly improve a massive list of health conditions, including spider bites and viruses. There are some contraindications ofVitamin C in congestive heart failure and G6PD deficiency. After doing some tests and check for congestive heart failure and G6PD deficiency, it is safe to use it.
He said he has been taking a maximum oral dose for about 20 years. To decide the maximum dose for you, you have to check your bowel tolerance to Vitamin C. You can take one gram of Vitamin C every 30 or 45 minutes until you get diarrhea. When you add up the amount of Vitamin C until you get diarrhea, you know that your tolerance is 10 grams, so you should take 8 gr, but not at once but divide it like two times a day, 4 grams in the morning and 4 grams in the evening.
If you get a cold or flu, you'll realize that your bowel tolerance is increased because your body uses Vitamin C to get better. Therefore, your bowel tolerance to Vitamin C will be more; for example, it will take 25 gr Vitamin C to give you diarrhea. He said China had been conducting clinical trials regarding the use of Vitamin C intravenously in the treatment of the novel coronavirus.
The researches and experience have shown that when you have a therapeutic concentration of vitamin C in your blood, it is effective in treating viral infections. The researchers in China states that the significant large-dose intravenous vitamin C is not just antiviral but also useful in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
He stated that flavonoids, which are plant chemicals found in almost all fruits and vegetables, have anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, and anti-carcinogenic properties coupled with their capacity to modulate critical cellular enzyme function. He said that you should notice that almost all effective vitamins are found in plant-sourced foods but animal-sourced foods.
He said that Vitamin A levels over 300 IU's per liter in your blood are also effective against cancer prevention. Recent studies show that Vitamin A reduces morbidity and mortality and is effective against infectious diseases such as measles or measles-related pneumonia, etc. Vitamin D also has a similar mechanism against viral infections. Vitamin D alleviates lipopolysaccharide-induced acute injury by immunomodulatory and antioxidant mechanisms.
He stated that the studies show during flu season, washing hands regularly will protect you from getting the disease. People usually sneeze or cough on their hands. So, you should wash your hands to protect yourself and others.WHO (World Health Organization) also recommends cook meat and eggs thoroughly. He said it is much better if you do not eat them and follow a plant-based diet. Self-isolation is also recommended. Wearing a mask is not protective. You have to keep the social distance from other people.
He stated that the necessary amount of Vitamin C and D depending on your need, and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and selenium, which help the enzyme glutathione works. You don't have the battery it won't work.
He said that the only real prevention is a healthy immune system. You can have Vitamin C intravenously one to three days, up to one week. This frequency depends on your needs. If you think you've been exposed and you're worried about your ability to fight the virus, or you can use it for prevention. There are different immune boost programs at The LifeCo Wellbeing you can choose according to your needs. In these programs, Dr. Lodi and his team also use Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), which is produced in the body, and you could also find it in plants. It is a substance that recycles Vitamin C. So if you are taking Vitamin C, taking ALA will boost Vitamin C and help Vitamin C affect longer. ALA metabolism uses up Vitamin B storage in the body, so while taking ALA, you also have Vitamin B besides. At The LifeCo.

Vitamin D is a Cold and Flu Fighter

Bill Gottlieb, America’s #1 natural health coach and author of Bottom Line’s Speed Healing, suggests that vitamin D is a potent cold-and-flu fighter. Taking up to 5,000 IU (International Units) a day can make you far less likely to get a viral illness. In the winter, when people are less likely to get out in the vitamin D–producing sunlight, incidence of colds and flus spike, which further emphasizes the need for vitamin D supplements in the winter. At the first hint of a cold, take even more vitamin D (as determined by your body weight) for three days to prevent the virus from taking hold. Vitamin D-3 is the natural, preferred form of the vitamin.
