Why Phones Don't Have Removable Batteries Anymore

There still are phones with removable batteries on the market – you just don't see them as much. They’re less popular and a little outdated. More common are gadgets with batteries that are glued and screwed into the inside of the phone. You can take it out only with special tools.

There are a few reasons why phones with removable batteries have lost their touch. One of them is that this new non-removable battery isn’t only for your convenience. The lifespan of an average smartphone battery is about 24 months. After that, it starts losing its capacity. And your service provider will be happy to sell you a new phone!

SUMMARY:
- Non-removable batteries don’t need a back panel, which means they take up less space inside the gadget. Slim smartphones simply look more stylish and modern!
- Giving up removable batteries also made it possible to have waterproof phones.
- With the battery tucked inside and difficult to get to without that removable back panel, it makes it harder for a thief to disable tracking features.
- With location turned off, your battery won’t have to work overtime tracking where you are all the time.
- What kind of wallpaper do you have on your phone right now? If it’s a bright flashy animated one, then your battery doesn’t last very long.
- Sometimes just one power-hogging app might be the problem. Looking through your smartphone’s battery usage can help you pinpoint which app it is.
- Whenever your phone is lit up, precious battery power is slipping away from you. You can lower the display brightness from the quick settings menu.
- Don’t wait to charge your phone when it turns off, and unplug it before it reaches 100%. Both these extremes drain the battery.
- Your phone will keep looking for a new connection as long as Bluetooth or WI-FI are enabled but the gadget isn’t connected to anything.
- Your phone wakes up for each notification and lights up the screen to show you a message and give you a chance to reply.
- If it’s too cold or too hot, it can strain the battery and shorten its lifespan.
- If your phone is on but you’re not using it, the screen will automatically turn off after some time, usually 1-2 minutes. That’s more than likely a lot longer than you need, so why not reduce it?
- Reading, watching videos, or gaming on your phone when it’s plugged in can distort the battery’s charging cycles.
- As you know, Airplane Mode switches off a lot of features, but you can always manually turn on the ones you need the most without leaving Airplane mode.

Why You Shouldn't Hold Your Pee In

How to Stay Healthy. We all have moments when we absolutely can’t head to the bathroom straight away even though our bodies are warning us it’s time to go. You can try and hold it in, but is that really safe to do? How much can your bladder hold? And what will happen if you don’t go when you have to? Let’s find the answers to all these sensitive questions together.

Can holding it in lead to urinary tract infections? 5:10
Can holding in too much pee kill you? 6:14
What should you do if you really need to hold your pee? 7:49

#holdpee #peecolor

Music:

SUMMARY
-If you’re a healthy adult, your bladder can hold up to 2 cups, or 16 ounces, of urine.
-Your bladder is smart and careful enough to turn on the nerves that send the first signals to your brain when it’s just half full. The brain then sends a signal back, telling your bladder to hold it until there’s a bathroom in sight.
-Emptying your bladder is a pretty important biological process. Your kidneys work as filters that take excess water and waste out of your blood.
-If you hold it in for a long time just once, it’s not like you’re gonna instantly trigger a UTI or anything. However, if you keep doing that on a daily basis, the risk does increase since you’re basically breeding bacteria inside.
-When overfilled, the bladder can literally burst when it’s already damaged by some serious condition, like a pelvic injury. Heavy drinking can also lead to this disaster since alcohol can make your body ignore the important signals from the brain.
-Try to distract it with some engaging activity. Crossword puzzles and games will do. You can also try to relax and get your thoughts off the bathroom by listening to music.

10 Extinct Animals We Shouldn't Bring Back

Scientists these days are serious about bringing animals extinct millions of years ago back to life. They even have a list of candidates, which includes the woolly mammoth, dodo, mastodon, and Tasmanian tiger. However, the animals you’re about to see are not desirable and will not be loved by humans. Those scary monsters from the past won’t do anyone any good.

The Giant Short-Faced Bear 7:50
Titanoboa cerrejonensis 8:41
Megalodon 9:15

Music: Lookahead

SUMMARY
-Meganeura, which was actually a griffinfly, was a bit smaller than a crow and had a wingspan of about 2.3 ft. A Meganeura’s diet consisted of insects, invertebrates, and small amphibians.
-Phoberomys pattersoni (also known as “guinea-zilla”) weighed 1,500 lb and was 4.9 ft tall. It’d be impossible not to scream if you saw a buffalo-like rodent charging at you.
-A prehistoric cannibal. Dunkleosteus was not a part of the shark family but was an arthropod or placoderm fish. Its bite was as powerful as that of the Tyrannosaurus rex and modern crocodiles.
-Helicoprion was 35 ft long with shark-like features and was twice the size of the largest known great white shark. Its tooth whorl, which consisted of 15 to 18 serrated teeth, worked like a circular saw when eating its prey.
-Deinosuchus was related to the alligator and could grow up to 39 ft long. They preyed on sea turtles and dinosaurs.
-Gigantopithecus, which translates to “big ape,” was a relative of orangutans. Its teeth, which were falsely branded as “dragon teeth,” were made to grind and chew plants, bamboo in particular.
-Megapiranhas were 2.3 ft long and weighed 20–30 lb. The megapiranha had a bite force of 279–1,069 lb.
-Around 500,000 to 2 million years ago, the giant short-faced bear was the most powerful carnivore around. Its scientific name was “Arctodus simus,” and it weighed between 2,000 and 3,500 lb.
-Titanoboa cerrejonensis’ length was about 40–45 ft, and its average weight was 1.25 tons. Titanoboa looked like a boa constrictor but behaved like an anaconda.
-Megalodon was the largest shark to ever live on Earth. Its teeth were 5” to 7” in height and had a bite force of 24,400–41,000 lb.

If You Find This In the Wall, Don't Touch Or Pull It!

How to Protect Your Data. Who knows what secrets a simple memory stick can hold? Scammers these days make use of those as they’re getting more and more creative to steal your data and harm your gadgets. In this video, you'll find out what danger a flash drive sticking out of a wall can present to your data and safety and why you should never pick one up off the street.
“Dead Drop” is a global art project that’s borrowed some tricks from the world of spies and espionage. Nowadays, there are over one and a half thousand dead drops around the globe. Remember it's highly ill-advised to plug some random USB stick into your computer. You can't even fathom what information might be waiting for you on a flash drive.
Criminals can use the “lost” memory sticks trick to get access to your personal information, your passwords, and other important data. What's more, they can easily destroy your computer. USB sticks in the mail also contain malware that can seriously mess up your computer.

Why lost memory sticks are dangerous 5:29

Music:
End of Time . Ugonna Onyekwe

SUMMARY
-Berlin-based artist Aram Bartholl decided to create an anonymous, offline, peer-to-peer file-sharing network in public space and started his “Dead Drop” project. It encourages people to swap confidential information with others by hiding memory sticks all over the world.
-You never know what viruses are lurking on a flash drive off the street, waiting patiently to destroy their next victim’s hard drive. Secondly, you can't even fathom what information might be waiting for you on a flash drive. Anyone can download videos, pictures, or text files, and this has already led to several problems.
-Using the “lost” flash drive trick, criminals can get access to your personal information, your passwords, and other important data. One Hong Kong-based company has created a flash drive that can literally annihilate a computer. It absorbs power from the USB line until it reaches 240 volts.
-Unmarked memory sticks dropped into mail boxes contain malware that can seriously mess up your computer. Scammers evidently rely on human curiosity and, in all honesty, it pays off.
-If you ever see an online ad for a one-terabyte memory stick being sold for a laughable amount of money, beware. hackers have somehow discovered a way to alter the controller chip settings. As long as you don’t exceed the true capacity of your new flash drive, it works fine. But once you go over the limit, the memory stick will slowly start corrupting your data.

Why Rocking a Peace Sign in Your Photos Can Put You in Danger

Rock the coolest Bright Side MERCH (open globally!) at:

You snap a vacation selfie with your fingers in a peace sign, and post it to your social media. It gets you likes, comments, all that good stuff. The next day someone breaks into your banking app. Someone just stole your identity, all thanks to that innocent little selfie! Researchers in Japan managed to scan and copy fingerprints from a photo taken about 9 feet away. Normal quality, fingerprints in focus, and some good lightning. That’s all it takes apparently!

The better the image quality, the easier it is. So, if you have one of the latest smartphones, you’re in the high risk zone. When someone gets access to your fingerprint, cyber bad guys can get rich off that kind of data. You probably use your thumb to log into apps, including your banking ones. That’s your money and personal info, up for grabs to the highest bidder. So, here's how you can stop these fingerprint thieves and other essential tips to keep your data secure online!

Why No One Should Dim a Phone Screen

Even though cell phones have dramatically changed since the 90s, loads of myths surrounding them are still the same! The more megapixels the phone's camera has, the better images you get; the dimmer the screen is, the better it's for your eyes; overnight charging harms the battery.

Some people even believe that a phone can cook an egg. This myth became popular after a viral Internet article - lots of people believed that radio waves a cell phone emits were so powerful that you could boil an egg by placing it between two devices. In short, smartphone myths are numerous and persistent. So let’s pop some of these dubious bubbles, shall we?

SUMMARY:
- Why cell phones are banned at gas stations is probably because they can and do distract drivers from the task at hand.
- If a decade ago overcharging could indeed damage the battery, you don't need to worry about such an outcome these days.
- Rice doesn't soak up just any liquid that happens to be nearby. To absorb water, rice grains have to be in direct contact with it.
- The amount of radiation a cell phone emits is so small that you would need 7,000 smartphones to boil an egg - and even this number is very approximate since nobody has checked it yet.
- Your gadget does have a magnetic field, but it's so weak that it won't affect your bank cards in any way.
- Some experts recommend draining your phone's battery completely only if your device quits working at 20% charge. Then emptying the battery might help you recalibrate its level sensor.
- Most people are sure that the number of megapixels is the best indicator of how good your pictures are gonna be. What they don't know is that not the number of megapixels but their quality plays the main role here.
- Since the 4G connection is faster, most people believe that it uses more data. But whatever connection you use, 5 MB of data is still 5 MB of data.
- If your screen brightness is higher than 50%, though, you should keep it down a bit. An over-bright screen can cause lots of short-term eye issues, from irritation to dry eyes and strain.
- The EM radiation frequency your smartphone emits is completely safe for you.
- There have been several cases when devices started burning, but it happened because of low-quality batteries, suspicious second-hand chargers, and dubious charging methods.
- The battery life mostly depends on how much power your device consumes.
- By closing background applications, you waste more battery because your phone has to spend more resources on opening an app than on re-launching it.
- The private mode does prevent your browser from storing your cookies, passwords, and other information. But it doesn't equal an encrypted connection, and other people, for example, Internet service providers, can see your browsing history.

Turn Off Your Computer Every Night, Here's Why

You probably heard that turning off your computer for the night can be harmful to it. But you must’ve also heard the conflicting point of view: that you actually should turn it off when not using it for long. So what’s the right thing to do then?

The belief that your desktop should work all the time comes from the dawn of the computer era — the 1980s. Back then, computers were made of different materials, and frequently turning them off and back on could potentially damage them. But what about now?

Sleep mode VS. Hibernation 2:24
Uninterruptible power supply (Highly recommended) 6:12

#computers #laptops #brightside

SUMMARY:
- When you turn on your computer, it triggers a little power surge that creates some stress on the system.
- Modern computers, be it laptops, desktops, or tablets, are specially designed not to be turned completely off.
- Many of the computer parts have moving parts of their own, and they need time to get up to speed.
- When you shut down your device, it first closes all the programs running on it for all users.
- There are several things you can do as well: they are hibernation and sleep mode.
- Both of them allow you to leave your computer on and save your work while reducing energy consumption.
- Sleep mode conserves energy a bit worse than hibernation, but it allows your computer to start up almost immediately.
- Hibernation is a deeper sleep mode that doesn’t use any energy at all, just like when you shut it down, but takes more time to shake off.
- On Windows 10, you can only use sleep mode by default, and to add hibernation you’ll need to open the taskbar and type power options.
- On Mac, you’ll have a different default mode for desktop and portable computers: sleep mode for desktops, and hibernation for laptops.
- On Mac laptops, there’s also an option to enter a standby mode. The device will automatically enter this state after three hours of sleeping if there’s nothing connected to it, including the charger.
- But keeping your data safe while your computer is on is tricky because there can be power surges or outages.
- Make sure to buy a UPS, or uninterruptible power supply, to save you from headache in case of a power outage.
- It’s a device that will provide an emergency power load to your computer if the mains power suddenly isn’t there for some reason.

If You See This Bug One Day, Don't Squish It!

So you’re at home, enjoying your evening tea under a warm blanket, when all of a sudden you see a huge — no, enormous! — mosquito. Its long and gangling legs have a span of your palm, and it clumsily bumps into all the obstacles it meets. Despite its awkward appearance, it’s still terrifying! What if it carries malaria? Slowly, not to draw the monster’s attention to yourself, you get out from your soft chair and run for it into the bathroom, lock yourself in there, and open the browser on your phone.

While googling, you get engrossed with reading up on some other weird and crazy bugs. For example, here’s the human-faced stinkbug. No, they don’t really stink, at least for humans. Here's a titan beetle next! It's the largest beetle in the whole world: it can grow as long as your entire palm, complete with fingers! Here's an Atlas moth that looks like they have three heads, two of which are serpent’s. They’re sometimes called cobra moths. There are 10 quintillion insects on Earth at all times and the critters on this list can fight to be named the “Strangest Bug Ever”.

iPhones: Charging Not Available. Liquid has been detected in the Lighting connector? FIXED!

If you have an iPhone and you try to charge it but a message window pops up saying, Charging Not Available. Liquid has been detected in the Lighting connector? What you need to do is let your iPhone dry. After using my iPhone in the pool it usually takes about 2 hrs to dry then it can start charging again. At times I had to wait up to 24-48 hours but a trick to dry it quicker is to shake the phone and also blow in the charging port, speakers and mic jack if there is one.

You may get this message on an iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, 8+, iPhone X, iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11Pro Max, etc.

13 Secret Tricks Every Police Officer Uses

Police officers are the order of any country. In movies, they chase the worst criminals, conduct interrogations, and, of course, they save people. But is this all this true? And how do these things really happen?

Btw, have you ever engaged in a pleasant conversation with a police officer who stopped you on the road? If you have, then you’ve probably given them a lot of useful info without even realizing it. The police have much more up their sleeves than you might think, and a superhero arsenal is just one of many of those things! So here are the most interesting facts about the dangerous work that policemen do. Most people probably have no idea about these crazy facts.

They’re cynical for a reason 9:51

#police #factsyouneverknew #brightside

SUMMARY:
- When you’re stopped by a police officer who’s accusing you of something, you’d better recall your alibi, and fast.
- Police officers touch the trunk or tail light of your car when they pull you over. This way, the officer is leaving their fingerprints on your car. They would serve as evidence if something happened to the officer during your conversation.
- Before an intersection or among tall buildings, the “yelp” mode, which has a faster beat, is used because it bounces off the surrounding walls better. The “hi-lo” mode can be used in different situations, but it’s generally reserved for dense traffic.
- The “cops love donuts” stereotype has become so omnipresent that many police officers even stay away from donut shops at all costs not to feed the myth.
- They have a legal right to do it by lying in your face. The only thing they’re not allowed to do is making your confession involuntary.
- In the US, if 911 receives a call that potentially requires immediate action, they will send out a SWAT team that will first break down the door and put everyone on the floor, and only then ask questions.
- The thin blue line is a sign to all the members of the police out there that here’s a supporter. The police actually have a sort of brotherhood.
- As soon as one of them gets into trouble, others will try to get them out of there.
- They’ll have everything from handcuffs and a radio to a whole arsenal needed to take down criminals on the run.
- In fact, like almost everyone else, they have to do lots of boring things. Filing documents, filling in some blanks, compiling reports, and so on.
- If you have a friend in the police, you’d be surprised at how much they already know about you — even if you didn’t tell them anything.
- It’s a common belief that most police officers are quite cynical. Well, in truth, the same can be said about any professional working with people on a daily basis.

- Use a dry cotton cloth to clean the screen and the back, like what you might clean your glasses with.
- Your phone can tell you a lot about its battery life! Your phone might also be able to tell you when you last charged it.
- If your phone is hooked up to your charger and keeps charging after it’s reached 100%, it can drain the battery.
- Keep charging past that for hours while you’re in a deep slumber. In the morning you’ll find that your phone probably won’t stay at a very full battery for long!
- If there are any tears in the cord you haven’t noticed, or if it doesn’t fit just right in your phone’s charging port, you might be at risk for a spark.
- Don't let your phone lose its battery completely before you charge it; just wait ‘til it gets below that 30% line.
- If you keep using your phone while it’s plugged in, it won’t charge as quickly, and the battery will drain faster after you unplug it.
- If it’s super cold or super hot, it’s not good for your phone. Either one can hurt its internal parts!
- If your screen is black, your phone doesn’t have to “work” to light up any brightly colored pixels.
- Yeah, it might get a little annoying unlocking your phone more often, but setting a 15 to 30-second timeout can go a long way!
- Each time you light up your screen, it uses a little bit of battery. Think of how much battery you’re using just to check your screen that many times a day!

Nowadays smartphones not only have numerous features of their own but also allow you to download multiple apps for any possible situation and purpose.

TIMESTAMPS
Measure a distance 1:12
Test your remote control batteries 2:25
Control your phone without touching it 3:20
Drive safely 4:10
Send texts from your PC 5:02
Make better decisions 5:54
Keep yourself safe 6:59
BONUS 8:09

SUMMARY
- Download the app called SizeUp, which will let you measure anything you need quickly and easily. This app will help you deal with any challenge in the blink of an eye thanks to its ability to measure almost anything through your phone’s camera. Just run the program, point the camera at the object, and wait for the result.
- Take the remote control, point it at the camera, and press any button. If you see a red or pinkish light coming from the tip of the remote when you look at it through your phone’s display, it means the infrared signal is working properly and the problem, in this case, is the batteries.
- Wave Control is available for both Android and iOS devices. While using this app, you can launch music and video players or answer calls with a wave of your hand without worrying about getting dirt all over your screen while cooking or cleaning.
- If you’re driving in the dark and want to keep your eyes constantly on the road, you can download a certain app called Hudway, which will come in handy. This app helps you drive more safely, especially when it's raining or snowing outside. It also clears the vision, when there's fog.
- With the app called Mighty Text, you won’t miss a thing! It syncs your phone and computer or tablet and gives you the opportunity to manage SMS and MMS from your email. All messages linked to your phone number will appear on your computer screen, and you can also find them in your phone’s text inbox.
- To save your time and make the decision-making process a little bit easier, name your options, set characteristics, and let this app called Decision Crafting suggest the best choice instantly. The app makes the final decision after considering all the pros and cons of each choice and comparing them to one another based on different criteria.
- If you often come home late in the evening and feel unsafe on the streets, there's an app called Bsafe, which may help to calm your nerves and deal with any potential danger. It will not only send an SOS message to your emergency contacts but will also record video and audio, track your GPS location, and set a timer that will automatically send an alarm to friends if you don’t turn it off in time.

iPhone isn't charging anymore – 3 things to try + 1 TRICK

This week I went through a little nightmare - my iPhone would not charge again. I tried everything that I found on the internet and that I summarized in my first 3 things to try.

Then I went to the Apple Store. The Apple Technician fixed my phone within seconds. Magic!

In this video, I show what the Apple technician did. If you end up trying this magic trick as well, know that it is at your OWN RISK. I call it a magic trick because I could not find any reference on the internet and it worked like magic.

If You See an Open Space in a Forest, Get Away Fast!

???? Our unique shop on Amazon (US only):

The beauty of nature all around you, the fresh air, and days and days of meditative rest far away from civilization ahead of you. But you’ve been walking for quite some time to get this far, and now it’s time to set up camp. The woods around are dense, and there’s no suitable place to put up your tent. Then, you notice a nice green patch completely devoid of trees and only sprinkled with some low-growing bushes. You go there, smug about your find, and get to work on the tent.

The ground is unusually soft and smooth, but that doesn’t bother you too much. By the time you’re done, it’s dark already, so you get inside the tent and crawl into your cozy sleeping bag. You wake up from a creeping feeling that something’s not right. You feel… wet? You rush out of the tent as quickly as you can and see that it’s started to sink into the ground. Turns out you’ve set up camp on a swamp! Swamps aren’t always obvious. But there are some other things that can ruin your forest vacation so today we'll tell you how to camp in the wood!

Stop Charging Your Phone at Night, Here's Why

It’s a basic thing – you want your phone fully charged in the morning so it’ll last through the entire day. And even with cutting-edge smartphones that can charge to max capacity in a matter of an hour, there’s no guarantee that you’ll remember to charge it in the morning while you’re in a sleepy daze.

Advice to leave your phone unplugged during the night may seem risky. The worst fear here is that your phone will charge down while you sleep and won’t see the dawn of a new day to wake you up like you’re used to. But still, you can’t go against the word of science. Leaving your smartphone on a charger is bad for it.

SUMMARY:
- Even though lithium-based batteries are rechargeable by nature, and made with this process in mind, they’re highly vulnerable to constant interactions with high voltage electricity, like in the outlets of your house.
- There are automatic switches on your phone that’ll stop the charging process the very moment it reaches 100%. But when your phone naturally goes down to 99%, the charging will start all over again.
- Good, high-quality chargers have special chips in them that prevent overcharging. So it’s advisable not to skimp on chargers – this way you won’t spend much more money on a new battery or entire smartphone too soon.
- Overall, it’s always advisable to use good quality tech when it comes to something as expensive as smartphones these days.
- Heat is bad for batteries. That’s why it’s so harmful to your phone if you leave it in a closed car in the middle of summer.
- You’ve probably heard something about fully depleting the charge of your smartphone and then charging it to the maximum capacity. This is fair for devices from the past decade.
- Any modern lithium-ion battery won’t get lazy like a cadmium based one, so you don’t have to worry about that.
- Scientists and engineers promise that soon, we’ll have another kind of lithium-based battery that’ll be able to charge in a matter of minutes and last for more than one day.
- One of their new ideas is to make battery chargers that can produce energy from a Wi-Fi signal.
- And how about charging a phone with a sound? Using piezoelectric principals, tiny nanogenerators will be able to transform the surrounding sound to electric power. -
- Scientists from Japan are in the middle of a decades-long study that will allow replacing lithium ion batteries with sodium.
- Another idea is to use literal sand in batteries. Not quite literal though, as this battery will use silicon – the main component of the sand.
- But for now, the best course of action is to use good quality charging equipment, keep your smartphone out of the heat, and most importantly, keep the charge in it between 30% and 90%.
