A Healthy Mouth Could Help You Survive Coronavirus (Once Contracted)

The Coronavirus has been shown to most severely effect those who have certain medical conditions. The CDC States that older patients and those with chronic medical conditions may be at higher risk for severe illness

These medical conditions are also known as Comorbidities
Covid-19 Comorbities

Cardiovascular disease
Diabetes
COPD
Hypertension
kidney disease
Lung disease
Those with serious long-term health problems

If you have any of these systemic conditions, the CDC says that you are at greater risk of death from coronavirus. We now know that poor oral health is a risk factor for all of thee diseases. In other words, if your mouth isn't healthy (particularly if you have gum disease) you are definitely at a higher risk for all of these comorbidities.

So reduce your risk for serious problems from the coronavirus by making sure your gums are healthy. Some of the things you can look for are tender gums, bleeding gums, teeth that are shifting/moving, and certain types of bad breath. When we see periodontitis we often see certain types of bacteria and parasites that are associated with it. These organisms get into your bloodstream and effect your entire body. That is what we eliminate in our office. We use a laser to treat gum disease, its a painless procedure and it is very effective. By getting your gums healthy, you can protect your overall health.

If you can get your gums healthy, you are going to be healthier. If you're healthier, theres going to be at less of a risk from serious complications if you contract the coronavirus.

Can covid cause heart attack | കോവിഡ് കാരണം ഹാർട്ട് അറ്റാക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകുമോ? | Ethnic Health Court

Experts have warned that people with certain health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, are at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Perhaps, a question frequently asked is if people with heart disease are more likely to die of COVID-19 than those without. The answer, which has previously been accurately documented, is that older patients with heart conditions are at higher risk of fatality.

Here Dr. Ramesh Natarajan, Sr. Consultant of KIMSHealth, Trivandrum, explains in details about it. Very informative video. Share it with your friends too..

Most people who become sick with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will only experience mild illness and can recover at home. Symptoms might last a few days, and people who have the virus might feel better in about a week. Treatment is aimed at relieving symptoms and includes rest, fluid intake, and pain relievers. To book a personal appointment with an Internal Medicine Specialist visit the following links:

Follow the doctor's recommendations about the care and home isolation for yourself or your loved one. Maintain a safe distance between the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) infected person and the noninfected ones. Only one person should be allowed to go near the infected person wearing full precautionary clothes and mask. Keep children and older people away from the infected person.

Also, its the most important time to boost your immunity to fight against COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and for that, you will have to make some lifestyle changes such as avoiding food from restaurants and junk food, drinking plenty of water, avoiding sharing of personal things, and being physically active.

4 Symptoms of Heart Disease | Heart Disease

Watch more How to Understand Heart Disease videos:

So what are some of the symptoms of heart disease that we can look out for? Some of them are pretty basic. They would be chest pressure or pain, shortness of breath, lower extremity edema, or palpitations. If we talk a little bit about each one, chest pain can sometimes be confusing. When doctors reference pain, we're not always talking about a sharp discomfort in the chest. As a matter of fact, sometimes pressure or discomfort in the chest, would be more concerning. In terms of shortness of breath, it could be either shortness of breath at rest, or when you try to exert yourself, such as going up a flight or two of stairs.

The lower extremity swelling is something we call edema, and you'll notice that usually at the end of the day. A good way to test it is just by pinching the ankle and seeing if your pinch leaves a dent in the skin. And the palpitations, that's a tough one to describe, but usually it means an awareness or funny sensation of the heart that can be either irregular or fast. If you have any of these symptoms, the best thing to do would of course be to speak with your doctor, because although sometimes this can be a sign of heart disease, obviously a lot of other things could also cause these kinds of symptoms.

My Dad Died From Covid-19. What Happened. What To Do. What To Ask.

Covid 19 news continues to dominate our airwaves. The Coronavirus death toll continues to rise in the US and elsewhere. Social distancing is the new normal with no end in sight. The Coronavirus is not like other viral diseases. My father became a Covid 19 nursing home death statistic.

He did not have any of the typical Covid-19 symptoms like virus patient breathing issues, fever or dry cough. He was fine when I talked to him on Saturday, April 18. He was found dead on Wednesday, April 23rd in his bed at his nursing home. It is beyond tragic that we cannot be together with family and friends as we are unable to see him nor have a funeral. This is not only about the tens of thousand of people dying, but it is also about the thousands of family members that are left behind.

I wanted to make this video this week about his death in hopes that this will help other families that are going through a similar situation or perhaps have critically ill family members. While there are some things that we cannot do after they have died from Coronavirus, there are certain things that we can do to prepare. I never thought in a million years that I would make a video like this. And in many ways, it still feels surreal.

I hope you are keeping your loved ones safe. Please wear your masks. Keep physically distanced from others. It is a small price to pay for a life.

Covid 19, Corona Virus and Heart Disease, Hypertension, Diabetes and High Cholesterol

Covid 19 or Corona Virus and heart disease have very similar symptoms. Those with Heart Disease, Hypertension, Diabetes and High Cholesterol are at greater risk of coronara virus or COVID 19.
It is important to improve and minimize your risk so you do not progress to artery disease, heart failure and in this time COVID 19 or Corona virus.

What Cardiac Patients Should Do during the COVID-19 era!

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide.
More than any other cause, heart disease is the number one reason why more people die.
Therefore, in the Coronavirus pandemic, we are currently experiencing, it is vital to know how COVID-19 can affect heart patients.

The Coronavirus is considered a threat to the health of any person; the concerns of all are many and are growing; however, these concerns are greater in those patients suffering from cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease is the term used to define a set of heart and blood vessel conditions such as

- Hypertension (High blood pressure)
- Heart failure
- Coronary heart disease
- Cerebrovascular disease (stroke)
- Congenital Heart Disease
- Rheumatic Cardiopathy
- Peripheral Vascular Disease

People with heart disease, congenital heart defects, high blood pressure, or stroke survivors may have a poor immune response if they contract the virus because their defenses are compromised, causing possible complications in their clinical picture.

For this reason, the motives to stay alert are bigger in people with heart organ diseases, since with what is known so far, those older patients with Coronary diseases or Hypertension are more likely to develop more severe symptoms.

Important information about how you can reduce underlying risk factors for Covid 19 and have less severe symptoms and an easier recovery if you get it.

Heart Disease + Covid-19 | Dr. Sara Gottfried

Most of my patients don’t understand heart disease—yet it’s so relevant to the current pandemic that I’m creating a few videos about why you should care about it. You may know that the people with high blood pressure, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease are at 2-3X greater risk of mortality with #Covid19 according to the World Health Organization. So let’s get into the details starting with key terms.

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is the #1 cause of death in the United States and globally. Men are more likely to die of coronary heart disease until age 55, and then women catch up, probably due to declining estrogen but the exact mechanisms are unclear. Let’s define a few key terms. Some people may use these terms interchangeably but shouldn’t. There are two terms that are important to distinguish: CHD and CVD. CHD involves the coronary arteries (the blood vessels supplying the heart and includes coronary artery disease, angina, acute coronary syndrome, and myocardial infarction (heart attack). CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE (CVD) includes CHD, but the broader category consists of the entire vascular system along with the heart, so other diseases in the grouping are cerebral vascular accidents (CVA or stroke), transient ischemic attacks (mini stroke), congestive heart failure (CHF), peripheral artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), thoracic aneurysm, etc. So many acronyms! Confusing!

There are 5 traditional risk factors for CVD: high blood pressure, diabetes, abnormal lipids (dyslipidemia), obesity, and smoking. Clinical trials show that we have reached a limit in our ability to lower the incidence of CHD with conventional diagnostic + treatment strategies for these risk factors. About 80% of CVD can be prevented with optimized nutrition, exercise, healthy weight and body composition, minimal alcohol intake, and avoiding smoking.
Furthermore, there are not just 5 risk factors for CHD, there’s more than 400—which means 395 risk factors are not being assessed or treated, particularly in women. In the next few videos on CHD + CVD, I’ll explain what these other risk factors, how they show up differently in women, and what we can do to address them.

Covid leads to heart attack | കോവിഡ് ഹാർട്ട് അറ്റാക്ക് ഉണ്ടാക്കുമോ? ഡോക്ടർ വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നു

Though a good portion of these patients already had underlying health issues involving the heart, like heart disease or high blood pressure, many otherwise healthy patients have also developed heart problems, including blood vessel injuries, blood clots, arrhythmia, strokes, and heart attacks. The high incidence of cardiac problems in patients who contract the coronavirus has had physicians stumped: How could a respiratory infection inflict so much damage on the heart?

Here Dr. Praveen S V of KIMS Health explains in details to Ethnic Health Court explains about it. Very informative video.
